With good old southern highlands weather staying true to form, showers wandering in here and there, then a brief blast of sun shine, at least the unpredictability is predictable!
Soigne Jackson was in top form winning both the 2 star with Warrego Collaterol Damage and the 95cm with Ultimate Velocity. Soigne finished of the end of last year with a fabulous result at Adelaide International with “Gold” placing 3rd in the 4 star class.
It was Ultimate Velocity that certainly got my attention, so I asked Soigne his story.
“I am his owner. His breeding is a bit of a mystery. His paddock name is Turtle, I came by him a couple of years ago, when I was based with Shane Rose. At the time he was 4 yo unbroken gelding on his way to the doggers. In the first year I got dumped 8 times, I’ve been on the arena and had 9 people bailed up on horses in the centre of the indoor while I bolted around the arena. This is how he earned his competition name- Ultimate Velocity! He has settled down a lot but is still very capable of his old habits! He is impossible to keep in a paddock seeing as he just jumps out. watching him trot around me in the round yard as a youngen was just like watching poetry in motion He is one of my favourite horses to ride and nearly losing him last year was the most terrifying situations I have ever been through!” One to watch that’s for sure!
On a sad note, my good friend Jade Findlay had a fall in the 1 star. Sit Tight Radio wishes Jade a speedy recovery.
