Holstein Park Leilani passed away recently at home with her loving owners, Jade and Jean Findlay. Affectionately known as Lani, the big chestnut mare had an illustrious international eventing career. Starting out with Jade as a seven year old in 2003, Jade and Lani had a bumpy start to stardom, with mixed results up to 3 * level. In 2008 Burto took the reins, Jade being a new mum, to a gorgeous daughter, Piper and in Jade’s words “Christopher just got her.”
Lani’s overseas trips with Burto in the saddle commenced in 2010 and the pair clocked up plenty of frequent flyer points. At this point of the mare’s career Burto made the big decision to base himself and some of his Aussie horses in the UK.
Jade and Jean count their lucky stars to have had an amazing journey with HP Leilani including meeting royal family members, being owners of a horse at the Olympics and even managing to be the highest placed Aussie at London Games.
Thank you for the memories Lani, a sad loss for her family.
